Hey guys,

A few weeks ago, I was able to share files between my 2 computers. One is running Win XP and the other Win 98. I reformatted Win 98 last week and now, when I go to Network Neighborhood, it won't let me see the Win XP computer. If I try to get files from Win XP to Win 98, I have no problems. What could I be doing wrong?

Also, Win 98 asks me for a password at the start... I just don't put anything and click ok and it works. How can I get rid of that?

Thanx a bunch

When you format and reinstall it defaults to asking for a password. You should only have to not do anything once and it wont ask again.

Did you run Home or small office network off your XP disk onto your win 98 machine.Did you give the same workgroup name for both puter's.

No, did not run home or small office in my win 98 machine and no, they don't have the same workgroup name

Just put your Xp disk in Win 98 machine(bah sounds dirty) and select additional tasks then select set up net work. When you are asked assign a workgroup name that is shared by both computers. Can be anything.Your computers also need names i usualy use A and B. Is no sweat settign this up.Xp does everthing.
