Default Help needed with desktop icons.

I have tried everything, i downloaded icon packager which has a seperate section for icon sizes which go up to 128x128 which are rather big, the icons i have would look fine even at that, but i've tried everything, i've tried switching from large icons to small icons and when selected on smaller they are so small i can hardly see them,

I like to have a few icons on my desktop, like 3 or 4, but rather large and very good quality ones.

No matter what i do i can not get my icons over 32x32 without actually bringing down the resolution which in turn makes everything else horribly out of focus and my icons too.

In a nutshell i Just wnat to increase the size and pixels of my icons on my desktop, nothing seems to work though ?

They will not go above 32x32 pixels, even when selected to use "large" icons.

Why?
you might be needing a new shell program to handle this. A bit out of my range, never really played with them, but I'm sure some one will give you some help.

Try x-setup from http://www.x-setup.net/
as far as I can remember it has an option to increase the icon size.
