Default Help me Please!

I have an older hp pavillion with xp. It caught a bad virus. I used diskkill to erase the hard drive. I go to install xp and I keep getting the error message "error loading operating system" from the startup. I can press f8 and go into that help area. I tried to install a fdisk to create a partion on the hard drive but i keep getting the same message on the screen. The fdisk software is on a cd. If someone can help me I would be very appreciative. I've been working on this for eight day and i'm laughing to my self. Thanks!

Is this a full version of XP or a restore disk? If it's a restore disk you need the recovery partition on the hard drive. If you erased the entire drive, that partition is likely gone.
