I am new at this and I thank everyone in advance for any help. I have two questions. I have a compaq presario running win 98 se with only a 500 meg processor. My first problem is that sometimes my computer locks up during shutdown showing the windows screen. Second I have an old version of McAffe virus scan, when I enable it it slows everything down. And when I try to update I get an error 'type mismatch'

Go get yourself an upgrade version of XP that should solve your problems.

McAfee is good but it's a resource hog, especially on a slower computer. AVG is a good freeware alternative that doesn't use up a log of resources.
