I have 2 hdds..xp in one and vista in the other...
it just boots to the xp without giving me a choice...

how to configure this so it gives me an option during startup?

Can you go into the 'startup and recovery' screen in the system configuration and select the option that allows you to selet the OS you want?

SOrry i'd walk you though it but i'm on my vista machine right now. But go into your system properties, then go to startup and recovery and you should have an option there.

If it doesn't allow you to choose or it only recognizes XP (since vista is on another drive) you'll have to use a 3rd party tool.

Sorry but it wouldnt be as simple as editing the boot.ini. That is only used for XP. He needs to use EasyBCD as Vista uses BCD now and it is backward compatible with XP and the boot processes there.

oh sorry for not replying.
I got it fixed with the Easybcd program.
thanks...and sorry for not repyling.

Ahh! It's a Vista and XP install, yeah, that wouldn't work I guess. Never looked at the boot.ini of a Vista install.
