Hi

I have a hard drive that has Windows 7 on it that I have from a previous computer. I am trying to get it to work with a new computer I am building. WHen I plug it into the old computer, it runs fine. When I plug it into my new build, it says that I have changed hardware and it does not start up. Is there anything I can do to get it to run on my new build?

Thanks!

There will be nothing you can do. The hardware doesnt match. Windows when it installs, installs the drivers for that setup. So that the devices on that machine will work. So you will have to reinstall Windows to get it to work with the new machine. Now this will only work if you have a Retail copy. If you bought an OEM version of Windows 7 then you can only install it with the machine you previously had it on since OEM copies are tied to that mother board for all time.
