So my mom has this really old computer and im going to give her mine, becasue she works on her computer, and is always complaining how slow it is. I know i can't just put the new hard drive in the computer and it will work. What exactly do i have to do so that the harddrive will work in the new computer, and she doesn't loose any of her firles? so no formating.

theres also a thing called disk cloning, alot of softwares can do it some paid some free (use this type of program if you truly want all data copied including the os otherwise whats said above is what you should do)

paid: acronis disk director suite/paragon drive copy
free: clone maxx
theres alot of others aswell but these are the ones i remember at the moment

Alright thanks guys. My uncle even suggested overlaying a new OS over the previous. Like a OS repair. And that worked. I'll have to keep in mind the dragging, might be a little easier in the future. Thanks though.

I think that he want to just update the harddrive warez.

I going to upload the unltimate tech cd vers.3 to sendspace.com tonight.

he can use cloning tools off of that.
