hi guys,

I have some questions i have to answer for a test tomorrow, and im having trouble finding the answer to this question......
how would you config. the hard drive jumpers for a non-plug-n-play IDE controller??

if neccessary we can assume this is for a win.98 pc .

Thanks guys

P.S. i have four other questions which i couldnt find either, i hope u guys dont mind me posting these on here

That is actually a matter of preference and depends on what other devices you would use.

I would set the jumper to Primary/Master and be sure to connect the IDE cable to the primary IDE Channel.

Well, no IDE hard drives are NON-PnP. CD-Roms may be, because DOS needs drivers to find them.

But your jumper config is not going to affect whether you can install those drivers or not.

As long as you only have 1 primary/master 1 primary/slave, etc. etc.

Actually, what I think he is refering to as "PNP HDD" is Cable Select.

how would you config. the hard drive jumpers for a non-plug-n-play IDE controller??
Designate Master/Slave. If you have a newer MoBo, you can designate Cable Select and it acts kinda like PNP.
