HP pavilion 7855 with OS Windows ME. YUCK!!! The problem started with a blue screen showing an error "Grubb" I have no idea what this is and have not talked to anybody who does. I tried all I know and got no where but in a deeper hole. I believe the hard drive is shot. A co-work who is supposedly very knowledgeable with PC's took it to check it out. I got it back and unfortunately, boot straps are disconnected and things are flopping around inside. How do I, #1 find out what gets connected to what, and then what is step 2? Where do I go from here? I will not reinstall ME, either XP or Linux. I just want it to work again:(

Thanks
Donna

Take the wide looking cable which is ide and install it on your mobo and then hook it to your hdd. It can only go on one way, then try to boot it.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what the heck is a mobo and is the hdd the hard drive. I think I can figure out which is the wid looking cable.
