Hey everyone. I am having a huge headache with this problem. Recently my computer autoupdated. It's running on Vista and now a BSOD shows up with the 0x0000c1f5 error. I am aware that the $TxfLog is the problem and that I can get rid of it with Linux, but unfortunately I can't install Linux as I can't get past the BSOD on start up.

So I decided to install a fresh copy of XP, but when doing so, ANOTHER BSOD shows up (error code 0x0000007B). I also read that I can slipstream SP2 into that, but since I can't get past the first BSOD, I am now stumped. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

Wait, how does a BSOD prevent installation of Linux (or any other OS)?

Why not use a LiveCD of Ubuntu? All you would need at that point is to have your CD Drive set before your hard drive in the boot order and you can get to the Live Desktop.

A BSOD will not prevent you from installing another OS. It sounds as if you dont have the BIOS boot order setup for boot from CD first.
