getting rid of software

i have some modem software that i want to get rid of, as it loads at startup, and slows the boot process. if i try to uninstall from add/remove programs, it says it cannot do it. if i delete the registry keys, it still doesnt go. if i try to delete the actual program files manually, it says it cannot delete them. what is going on??????????

I have no idea. Check the support forums or whatever for what brand you're modem is. That should have a reason why it's happening to you.

Why do you want to delete it? Go to start, run, type msconfig and see if its in there, if so, disable it and reboot then try to uninstall it, or go to device manager and uninstall it there
