Getting files from user's "Documents and Settings" folder from pulled HD.

Hey guys,

Someone here at work had a HD out of an old PC. His wife stored a lot of data in her My Documents. He can see most everything under Users/her username, but not documents and settings. IIRC this is a feature to hide the files to basically keep someone from stealing the hd and getting them, unless I am totally making up my memory of having heard that. Is this so, and if so how can he bypass it and get the files?

I guess he just needs to take ownership of the entire user folder from within his current PC then since he can't see the Documents and Settings folder as of now?
