go into your start menu.... go to the runline and type in : msconfig. once inside msconfig access the "startup" tab.
uncheck anything you don't want to start on startup.

or open the following locations...

startup folder from the programs menu.
regedit: HKLM&HKCU -software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run \runonce

here you will find the actual values if you want to remove them for good. export the registy keys before doing anything, just to be safe, then remove the values you don't want. This is permanet, where msconfig isn't...

good luck

Msconfig stops the actual prog from loading at startup but its services may be running in the background taking up memory. Run Services.msc ***** BUT follow a detailed guide to make sure you identify services you feel you may need and eliminate those you dont want.
