Recently I have been receiving the
"Generic host process error" on my x64 bit windows, Upon getting this error all NEW programs opened up do not play audio. I have been looking around and it seems the only way to fix this error is to get windows updates.
Now I do not wish to do this becuase everytime I have updated my x64 bit windows wierd things started happening such as hardware conflicts (blue screen would popup once in a while) and ventrillo would sign me out every 30 seconds, things like that.
So I am wondering if there is a standalone fix for the error, and could someone explain to me why the windows updates screw with my computer?

I am not sure which update it is that fixes this problem. But you are correct that it is a Windows thing. Wonder if you could download one update at a time and see what it is, then uninstall the others. Dunno.

These are the updates that came out in August.
