Friend needs help with DVD playback

Hi

My friend just phoned my saying that everytime he plays a DVD no matter what DVD when he plays it, it will play like it is on fast forward. He uses Windows Media Player and Creative MEdia source and they both do it. He has tried it in both DVD drives and they do the exact same. What can he do?

It's likely a codec. I've had codecs that simply speed up the video, or so it would seem.

Codec Error, or he actually has his "Play Speed" turned up,, in Media Player it is a possibility, however I'm not sure about the other app.

I believe that reinstalling the codecs would set windows media player to default options so whether it is one of these problems could be solved that way.
