Freezing in games.

Ever since I defragged my computer I've been having nothing but trouble. Everytime I load a game, after 15 seconds or so it freezes, the monitor then flickers on and off and my resolution is reduced to 800x600. It was running perfectly before the defrag. I also reformatted my whole computer and it is still doing it.

EDIT- It looks like it's not just games now. It's happened twice whilst searching the internet.

Any help?

Did you use microsoft defragger? check to make sure your graphics driver is uptodate and you have a compatible direct x version.

I used the defragger in Accessories --> System Tools.

All my drivers are the latest.

update your vc drivers and uninstall/reinstall

I have done that many times. I have uninstalled via driver cleaner, control panel and every other things and reinstalled the most upto date drivers. I have even tried older drivers. I have formatted the whole comp but nothing seems to work. I ran memtest for 12 hours and didnt get an error so I guess we can count that out.
