Freezes during windows loading

I acutally had this problem for a while but it really didn't bother me all that much. Sometimes when booting up my computer windows will load and then when the icons start to come on the screen only some of them will show and then the computer will freeze. I'll restart and sometimes it'll get a little further but then freeze again. Other times the computer seems to boot normally. Also everytime windows loads a folder will pop up that says programs and it has files in it regarding things from partition magic. I used that program to take some space from one partition and give it to another. Everything went ok but not really sure why this folder opens everytime. It's not in the startup list.
