Does anyone know any free programs I can use to Password Protect my computer, so when I log on it asks me for a Password. I have a Windows XP 4300S with Microsoft and soon Mandrake Linux, but not yet installed on it.
I dont quite understand what you are asking... because if you want password protection you should be able to turn that on in windows xp or maybe there is something that I am missing
Go into the control panel>User Accounts>Change the way users log on or off. Uncheck the box to use the Welcome Screen. (Personally, I would turn off 'Fast User Switching' also)
yeah... what he said, if you even want more protection you could make a BIOS password, which means that soon as you turn your machine on you would have to enter a password before windows or anything else boots
