Free imaging software

Like the title says, does anyone know of any good free disk imaging software? From what I understand (not a whole lot to be honest) it seems it is the easiest way to create a backup of the entire HDD. Oh, and it's for both vista and xp.

There is no free imaging software that will work on both.

There is no good imaging software that works for them. There is paid that works well but nothing free.

Look into the WAIK. It includes ImageX which will image both XP and Vista.

It is not straight forward however.
