Main reason it was removed was Corporate Security. SysAdmins don't want people to be able to store files on their PC's that they can't control in some form or another.

In general, desicision like this are rarely made for the Home PC user. The real money comes from corporations.

I researched this microsoft private folders app thing and it looks like they took it off the net for a variety of reasons (one being that parents don't want their kiddies locking their porn up). Is there a place where I can still download it?
Yes i still have the file on my PC and i have it uploaded on my forum for download. Other than that i dont know of any place it can be downloaded.

Hit me up by PM and i will give you the details. Either that or click on my signature picture to go to my site and register and download it.

if you are using XP then you can just prevent access to user using the "Sharing and Security" tab under properties

It would have to be XP Pro not home to have the ability to turn off simple file sharing aka get the "security" tab acl. Not sure which OS we are dealing with. It would work, but it somone hopped on the comptuer logged on as him they couldl still view it..where is if there was a prompt for a password it would at least be a bit more time consuming to hack..but we can hack them indeed.. ;-) I agree though I heart ACL's.
