Grisoft's AVG 7.5 will run without problems on Vista. AVG Free Advisor: Installation files & documentation I run that on Vista Home Premium here.

Along with the antivirus tool you go with htere's a pair of adware/spyware removers that work well together. Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spyware Terminator cover each others backs it seems. One will find what the other misses. Both will see regular updates as well as for the free tools.

Spyware Terminator is found at Spyware Terminator - Spyware & Adware Real-Time Protection The 1.06 version of Ad-Aware can be downloaded at Ad-Aware SE download and review - remove adware components from SnapFiles Both of these work as well in Viats as seen on XP.

For Anti-virus I will advise AVG or Avast.
They are comparable to paid products.
