Boot to safemode, uninstall Google Desktop, make sure you have all the WIndows updates in, then reinstall Google desktop if you still want it. Not sure why GD messes up the boot cycle, but had to use this fix for several of my clients! Good Luck! BTW, also had to update the wifi and ethernet cards on several of the Dell 1500 series laptops, (1501, 1505, etc) to get the wireless to reconnect after removing Google desktop.
