i know it's a sill question...but can any tell me how to format my hard disk

c ive got 4 partitions....c,,e,f,g ....d is the optical drive.....

now c has got all the OS and system files...

i want to format c,e and g but not f

formating c means removing OS files so ill need win XP cd

but if u install win XP all drives have 2 be formatted

dont they??

If you have the Windows XP cd then just boot into it. You don't have to format all drives, just format C: and install Windows on there. Then when you get into Windows you can use Disk Manager in Administrator tools to format the rest of the partition. You can also use Win98 startup disk or any Windows startup disk, the formart drive: command can do it also. You can go into My Computer, right click on your drives and click format too.

What I mean is that the Windows XP CD is bootable, if your BIOS is set to search for the OS from the CD first, then you can just insert your CD and restart the machine and it will boot into the CD.
