Default folder is access denied....

I got a hard drive from my uncle that he wants me to recover the data. It came from his dell. So I slave it in one of my own computers, and when I try to open one of the folders, it says access denied. How do I get past this?

Send a message via AIM to Win2kpatcher

Take ownership of the entire drive

yes, right click on the drive and enter the properties, select the security tab then click on advanced, select the owner tab, change the owner to yourself and dont forget to tick the little box for "replace owner on subcontainers and objects"

i assume you're running xp pro

Boot to safe mode in XP Home or download the security management.
