I have a strange situation. My computer is currently dual boot XP and Vista. I want to wipe vista and go xp and linux. Someone mentioned a utility on this board called fix mbr or something that will restore the xp mbr so that the computer wont have the option to boot Vista even if it isn't there. i want to fix the mbr and then install linux on the vista partition. Does anyone know where i can find this app?

It isnt a application. Insert the XP disc. Frm there go to the recovery console. At the recovery console type in fixboot after that type in fixmbr. That will reload the MBR back to the XP default.

Nope. The application you are thinking about might be EasyBCD. But that contains the Vista Bootloader. It has nothign to do with the XP bootloader. You can remove the Vista bootloader with EasyBCD but it doesnt automatically fix the MBR for XP.
