The chances of you getting a dead mobo out of box is slim. Not even Slim Fast can touch those numbers. The failure rate of hardware is very low. So i really wouldnt be that cautious.
If the mother board did die, say a week after you isntalled Widnows and had to get a new one, calling Microsoft and explaining to them the situation will net you results. They most likely will issue a new activation code for the new mother board cause even though it is slim, it does happen and they understand that it is out of the control of the end user.
