So my guess would be that it is vital to Vista as well. So let's see here... The Major is right. No firewall does virus checks. Security Suites do. but those include Virus, firewall and spyware checks. So what Anti-Virus you using? I am guessing only Windows firewall. I have never had this problem. With running OneCare, Avast, AVG or Eset. I have also run TrendMicro, BitDefender and Zone Alarm. None of these applicaitons has removed the file you are talking about. So i would wager to guess it is either Norton 360 or a McAfee product.
