Unhappy Filling in pdf forms?

I need to fill in some forms sent to me in a pdf format. I have Adobe Reader 6. but it's no help. I can't type worth a dang so I'd like to fill them out on my cpu instead of printing and trying to type in the information.

What do I need to do this?

The full version of Adobe that allows you to edit PDF files or similar program or a scanner and some copy/paste skills.
You could say I've been around.
