File sharing

Hi Folks
I have just reinstalled WXP home - I have my disk partitioned into about 6 sections (2 OS'satahotos:Music etc) and therefore have documents on the data section made with my previous installations.
Now I get the following message whenever I open any previous docs..

D:\...\letters\letter.doc is being used by eric brydon. Do you want to make a copy?

This really niggles me, but I'm sure there will be a simple answer!

would love to hear any ideas...

I just made up the name - it actually says 'Will' - sorry about creating confusion! Will is my name.

First, I would check the file Attributes for both the folders and the documents themselves... are they "Read Only"? If so, clear out those checks.

Failing this, you could always just copy the documents to a new location...
