I've had a Maxtor SATA drive collapse on me. Its got some files on I would like to recover. I cannot access the drive in Windows. All attempts to repair drive with Windows console failed. If I try to boot with drive connected as boot drive I get the blue screen and a re start. If I start as slave I just get a black blank screen. I've tried some free file recovery programmes that run from a floppy and non of them work except Ontrack Easy recovery which shows me the files are accessable but to get them I need to pay over £100 for a full working version. I have some other file recovery progs that look good but they only work in Windows. Any advice?
