Default fatal error message xp...help pleazzzze

Aye matees

I'm hoping to get some answers on an error screen I keep getting.

I'm tring to install xp.
I get to the install page (which reads 39 mins to go or what ever)

anyhow a fatal error screen pops up at this stage.

Error installation failed D:\1386\asms. error message
the request could not be performed because of I/O device error

fatal error one of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed

the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error

Anyone have any clues??

Any help would be grrrreatly appreciated

Bobby Ray

I thought that was the problem so I threw in a new one and still get the error message.

I checked the bios and it's coming up there, any clues as to a fix??

Try the drives in a different computer to see if it works in there. Either that or check for a BIOS update for your motherboard.

I'll see if there's any updates for the motherboard

I haven't tried switching channels so I'll give it a shot
