Windows XP Home, I saw a post somewhere on the net about a one click shutdown for XP. You had to make a shortcut on the desktop and there was something that you typed in the box that came up. There was one for 1 click restart and 1 click shutdown. I had it on another computer, that is another problem, and I cannot find it now. Does anyone know what it is and will you post it here?
Thanks:bald:

Yes, the file is located (for XP) in Windows\System32\shutdown.exe
From the command prompt, type shutdown /? for a list of the switches with the command.
I was able to find a good page a long time ago on this and sure enough....it's still there :)

Another way to fast shutdown, you can use a "one press shutdown" if your keyboard has the Standby button. To do that, first open Control Panel and do:

--> Power Options
--> Advanced
--> Power buttons

In the box "When I press the sleep button on my computer", you can choose standby, hibernate or shutdown:eek:
