Just curious, how often does eset update its virus definitions?

Depends on the day. I see mine update several times throughout the day sometimes. Other days not so much. I believe the default setting to check for updates is once per hour.

I was wondering say right now DB for eset right now is listed at 3978 with a date of 20090331, is it possible say later today that it could go to 3979 with the same date or will it just stay at 3978 and not change to 3979 until tomorrow of 20090401? Which way does it work?

Yep yep. I ended up turning off the pop-up notification of Nod32's updates as it does it so often.

Guys, Isn't it suppose to update on it's own or does one have to set it update manually? What time did it update? I had to manually press update so it will update.

It should have done it automatically so it schedules to update.

under Tools > Schedular > the first one says "regular automatic update" and its set to run every 60 minutes.
