I Just installed Mandrake 10. Sadly, it screwed my win XP NTFS's partition table

When I tries to boot to window, "missing operating system" shows.

I tried to write a new MBR and Boot sector. But doesn''t seems to work.
I also tried serveral partition recover utility.

Now, I am planning to edit the partition table my-self.

Any one have a good referece of
partition table for Win XP NTFS ?

Any one knows any good software (for linux),
for partition and superblock editing?

Any one knows any good software for Partition diagonistic (linux)?

Thx in Advance

Have you tried using partition magic by powerquest? It'll handle windows and linux built partitions.

" see if it will boot to safe and select "Last Known Config that worked ""

Partition table is not related to windows' settings, and therefore "last known config" will not help.

When a partition table is damaged, you can not boot at all. Most likely data in that partition is all gone too.

For my case, I've managed to recover the data, but it doesn't boot.

For PowerQuest Partition magic. Hmm......., I don't want to spend any money on it. I am sure there are other freewares for manual partition editing.

Thx both for commenting anyway.
