I recently got a DVD burner so i could back up all of my movies.

I want the quality to be pretty good. Now i was wondering, what is a good compression rate for movies? Is 60% too much? Should it be around 70-100%?

I leave mine at default. The movies are great, never ever had a problem, movies are crystal clear.

So default as in whatever DVD Shrink automatically sets the compression at?

It does work well, but I have compressed larger (8.5g+) movies and they didn't look nearly as good as the original, however they were still ok to watch...

for those movies, get instant copy

Does instant copy compress them better?

waaaay better. it is the best compressing program that takes under 24hr. some of the older compressing program can give you a exact duplicate, but they take 24hrs to do it.

IC7 or 8 might take 2-4 hrs though, on a looong movie
