i would appreciate any info or advice im thinking about backing up my dvds and i would like to know what works best with windows me . what would be the best software i can get to do this. thanks for any info.

first, you need a better OS. Win2k or XP with NTFS.
Then you need a lot of storage. I have 1.2TB for my videos. >700 titles.
how many movies are you talking?
Software wise, it's up in the air really. I use DR.Divx cause it's all in one. but it's not free either. There are other tools out there, but I'll let other tell you what they think is best.
Good luck.

dvd shrink or dvd decrypter should work for you,They let you shrink the original movie down so you can put it on a 4.7 gig disk,And the best part is they are both free to use.

your also gonna need a good burner and good quality cds.

or your gonna go skipping crazy :)

I only use DVD X-Copy, If you see a copy of it now it won't have the ripper in it ,too bad the company closed it doors. this program rocks.
