DVD Backup to Hard Drive

I would like to take some of the dvds I own and back them up onto my hard drive in .wmv or .avi format. I used the program dvd decrypter to put the files on my hard drive. Is there any specific way you recommend to convert these files into video files?

Also, I tried DVD2AVI and everything came back messed up and out of order (probably my fault). There are a bunch of files are named like this: VTS_01_5.VOB, VTS_05_0.IFO, VTS_05_0.BUP. How do I know which ones to use? Thanks.

I used AutoGK, but I'm not getting any sound in the avi file.

Anyone know? Is there another program I should use (maybe one that doesn't take 7 hours)?

when you use AutoGK you have to specify the soundtrack it uses. stick to AutoGK as it's about as simple as you can get and it produces decent rips without too much effort.

maybe you don't have all the required codecs?

CloneDVDMobile works great. It doesn't offer the functionality that AutoGK does, but it converts DVD to DivX Avi
