Default dual processor for mpeg decoding

I am researching building a computer that will focuse on mass mpeg-2 decoding. I know the most powerful form of doing this encoding/decoding is by the cpu. I would like to build a dual processor system, but am not sure if the the Operating System will know how to delegate this load between cpu's. I know that some programs, i.e., xmpeg, flask mpeg, have multi threaded software to deal with this. If i have a dual processor system with out multi threaded software will this i still be able to use both processors?? Thanks for your input

Dual-processor setups do not split single tasks. They split the collection of a list of tasks into two stacks.

The only way I know of to do a split-file dual-processor setup is with an MPPU, with at least 3 chips.

Just make sure the editing software supports dual proc. Things like 3d max, adobe, and some other support dualies.
