[Domain Controllers] Inactive Removal

Ok,
Our old admin (whom was fired), left an OLD and unused machine in the Domain Controllers Container. This machine has been OFF for atleast 6 months and has actually been renamed.

My question is:

Can i simply remove this machine from the Domain Controller Container?

Will there be any consequences for this action?

i believe if in ADUC you remove the domain controller, if the active domain controller thinks its still promoted it will ask you to demote it and you'll have several options including something like this computer is unavailable and you can then demote it from the currently active DC
