No. I've used the RTM Build 5744, it just has antivirus monitoring. Windows Defender is a firewall and antispyware program.

Avast currently supports Vista

What do you need it for? I thought Windows Vista was the most secure operating system in the universe?

RTM is build 6000 not 5744. That was RC2.

Okay Apple fanboy. We all know that your security is much better than Windows but how many flaws and patches have been released to OS X since it went to Intel processors?

I would say triple. At least that have been announced since Apple is very good at hidding the fact they have released patches till this point.

The answer is no. Vista does not come with a Anti-Virus. Avast!, AVG, BitDefender all install and work. I would recommend OneCare. It works wonderfully on Vista.
