I am fixing a computer for a friend and i believe i may have really screwed it up. He brought me his computer because his windows installer was gone. you could not install a single program not even updates. What is did was try to repair the install but for some reason the option was not there. So what i ended up doing was replacing the old c:/windows folder with a new c:/windows folder with the windows. not only can you still not install but all the documents that were in the my documents are also gone. Is it possible to get the old user documents back.
