Display has gone weird.

Not sure if this subject belongs here or in hardware board but it could be software gone wonky.
My screen display looks like this:

Picasa Web Albums - Sue - computer probs



Nvidia Geforce4 MX20 display adapter.
Something to do with DVD drive as I have had it before when DVD drive froze but could only correct it by reloading XP. Please someone tell me there is another way!!!

Drivers are up to date. Tried changing resolution, system restore. No joy.

Have you tried another monitor or tried your monitor on another computer to see if that is the issue?

I know it's probably not this, but is your monitor plugged into the video card all the way. Sometimes they get pulled out just a little bit and it messes your colors up.

If it is plugged in right, try what Hefemeister said and try it with a different monitor. That will help you to know if you're dealing with a monitor problem or video card problem.

Thank you. I will try the monitor. Don't think it is the video card not plugged in as computer has worked fine for some years. It happened when I played a cd rom in realplayer.

I could be totally wrong, but that sounds like a coincidence to me.
