Default Disk Manage Soft

Can anyone recommend a good, safe, freeware utility that I can use to manipulate partitions.

Specifically I have a 74GB hdd that is formatted as a single partition, XP is installed there but now I want to create a second partition within that drive space.

I'm open to other suggestions except anything that will result in the loss of the installation on the current partition.

Cheers

I was going to recommend Norton Partition Magic v8.05 which they bought from Powerquest after the 8.02 version. It's the best partition software out there but it's not free.

You can have a look at this website http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilit...neditors.shtml

I've never use any of them since I already have the norton one but those are the free one you are looking for. I don't trust freeware that much.

Cheers law, I just had a look at that web page actaully. unfortunately all the promising utilities are dos based an i'm feeing lazy. :-/

I'm loath to touch anything with the norton brand name and i've heard that partition magic has gone downhill since Norton ate powerquest.

I might take a look at the Acronis disk director suite.... theres a trial too so manybe if i'm lucky I can do what I want in the trial.

GParted is a bootable CD version, it's not DOS based it actually has a unique UI like NPM and it boots off a CD which is good since it can be carry around. Check it out. They also have a bootable USB version.
