Default Direct X

Hello all. I have just done a reformat using XP... ive just downloaded directx9.0c, played a game and then gone to watch a movie and noticed the picture quality is really bad, alot of the colour has been removed. I got rid of DX9.0, started the movie over and it was fine... can anyone help me on a way to get around this?

It could be your video settings, have you checked the hue, contrast, brightness, ect. ect.?
