I've found a program DIALER in my program files, that allows me to use my computer to dial a phone if I have my internet lead plugged in (I use dial-up internet). It works and calls the number I type in, I can hear the person answer, but my microphone doesn't work & allow the recipient to hear me. The microphone works with other applications, so any clues as how to get DIALER to recognise it?
Also if I had broadband, would DIALER be able to use that to call people as well? and if so would it be at no extra cost, or would it be charged by my telephone service provider, eg BT?

Thank you!!:)

You have to interface the modem with the Soundcard or the mircophone. If you don't have a voice capable modem, then you are SOL... it's soemthing that you don't see very offten anymore. Most modems are Data\fax not VOICE. But if you do get a Voice Modem, you can do a lot of very cool things with them. US robotics makes some really great software for managing the interface...

Good luck
