Default Destop themes gone?

I recently had some spyware that I removed, I dont know if that has anything to do with my problem. When I go into properties and then themes tab, the only two themes that work are XP and classic. What I mean by "work" is that when you choose a theme, there's usually two demo windows in the visual demonstrating what the theme would look like. If I choose anything other than XP or classic I only get the background wallpaper and when I choose that theme, that taskbar will only choose the classic style. All the themes are still in the resources folder and everything, they just don't work anymore when I try and select one... they used to.

Also, when scanning with spysweeper (most recent updates) I find a few files that are labeled trojan downloaders and the accoona toolbar which i thought i removed with spybot. I can't remove these entries unless I subscribe to spysweeper for 25 bucks. I tried to use a cracked version of the software, but the definitions are old and they don't find these infected files.
