I deleted my desktop shortcut icon but now I want it back. I haven't found a way of getting it back.

I've tried right clicking on the desktop and create shortcut, but this shortcut takes me to the desktop folder but I want to go back to the desktop screen.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks

You can hit windowskey+d to get to the desktop. It's same as right clicking the taskbar and going to "Show the Desktop"

I think he means the "show the desktop" in the quicklaunch.

I found this on http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/1562:

Go to Start/Run and type in "notepad" (without the quotes) then type in these lines:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Next, save the file with the name "Show Desktop.scf" in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\ Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ Quick Launch

Your actual user account name goes where it says "username".

The Show Desktop icon should reappear next to your Start button and you can close out Notepad.

I always just right clicked the start button, select properties, taskbar, show quick launch. But whatever method works.
