Desktop EXTREMELY slow to respond.

Any ideas on speeding it up. I hit ctrl all del and it popped up 3 min later. I jsut started the system. I'm going to, delete files, run AVG and HJT on it. Just wondering if there is anything else I should look at. What's the key in the registry that sets how long it takes to open folders? I can't remember. Maybe somehow that got changed.


EDIT: It's been up for about 15 min and the virtual mempory low message just popped up.

youve run out of ram and paging file increase the paging file and tell us what your system specs are? also try clearing your msconfig that will cut down on the programs you dont need.

I would do that if the **** thing would come up. I clicked on run about 1/2 hour ago.

wow just format it hahaha its not even worth the trouble. do you have the xp cd.

Yeah, I have it. I hate to reformat and lose all the crap this guy has on it though.

just back up the stuff he really wants like music documents ect it would most likley be harder to fix it back to normal than to start from fresh especially if i post warez's guide it may take you days to finish it
