delay loading desktop icon

dear all,

i am using win Xp 512MB of ram the problem is that it is quick to appear log on screen but after type in user name and password correctly and press enter
and i need to wait 3-5 minutes to see desktop icon appear.
anybody suggestion please!

It is taking that long cause it is loading your profile and all your applications. Start>Run>msconfig. Turn off everything BUT your Antivirus and Firewall.
