When I access my C: drive in properties and go to the tools tab and try to defragment I see the message"No defragmentation tool is currently installed"! This is driving me crazy as I can navigate to the default windows defragment tool from the start menu! How can I get windows to recognize it as a defragment tool when accesing individual drives?

Did you try Start > Run > and type dfrg.msc in the Open line. Click OK
or
Start > Administrative Tools >Computer Management. Expand Storage and select Disk Defragmenter

Kelly's corner has a tweak scroll down to Line 280 on the left side to 'Restore Defrag.exe'.

Run a disk cleanup and chkdsk bfore the defrag.
Personally i'd suggest you download this tool, try it its free, the paid version has some neat features.

Thanks for the reply..... I CAN get the defragmenter to work. Only, I want to figure out how to get it to work directly from the C: drive properties window! It does this on every other computer I own!
